Summer song

Song composed by Meki, Callen and Preston

Today, the three of us made up a song about Summer. The song is about how much we love the sun. Hope you all enjoy our song.

Acrostic poem

Cunning making an escape plan to

    save Wilbur

Helps Wilbur, so he doesn’t get killed by Mr. Zukerman

A friend to Wilbur

Relaxes on her web

Loves to catch bugs in her web

Outside she lives

Talks to Wilbur a lot

Telling Wilbur to wait patiently

Every day, she has to fix her web

Every day, my class listens to the story called Charlotte's Web. Today I wrote an acrostic poem about the character called Charlotte. She is the spider.

View from the window

 The grass is growing

and people get older

Mountains are growing

And

 Seasons are changing

 Birds are bigger

 leaves are dropping

 A new day is dawning

                                Through the window

a storm!

look out

here it comes over the fence

over the clouds

Soon the sun is out

                                      Boys are older

babies are born

shops are renewed

 people are coming

flowers have grown

rain storms are gone

Out comes the sun

Here it comes

By Preston

Poem: View from the window

        View from the window

A long big tree

Outside the window

I look to see a shiny rainbow

Flowers are blooming

And cars are

zooming

Painting on wood

And my cat on

The roof

Birds are flying in the

Sky

My new baby

Looking so shy

By Christina

Poem: View from a window

View From The Window

Birds are chirping

Like singing little diddles

Waking people up

Like Lions roaring

All through town

While the people

are sleeping.

Rain is pouring

Like ice falling from

the sky.

People grow older

As the years go by

Kids get older and get jobs.

As people die and

new are born

As people get hurt

and get new parts

some get killed.

Babies get older

and go to school

they learn, learn, learn

To get smarter every hour

Reading still happens during lockdown.

Here is Winfred reading to her mum during a lockdown. It is so good to see my learners still enjoying reading with their families.

Responsibility and Priviledge

This week,  as part of our RE studies we had to have a discussion with our families about what the words privilege and responsibility means. Nu'utofi and her family came up with these ideas.

A Panda in our library

I listened to a story on Storyline Online called Library Lion. It was about a lion that enjoyed listening to stories. Today, I created a poster about an animal that I would like to have in my school library who I can read to.

Different ways to make 20

Here are some of the ways to make the number 20

This week we have been talking about the water shortage in Auckland. Everyone in Auckland is asked to save 20L of water per day to help get through the problem. As a class, we decided to show how to make/represent the number 20 in different ways.

Shapes everywhere in our classroom

Today I walked around my classroom and looked at how shapes are used to make different things.  I found that our carpet had square shapes, the book had an oblong shape, the light switch also had an oblong shape, the cushion seat near the window had an oblong shape and my pet reading cushion had a triangle shape in its ears. Shapes are everywhere you look.

Main ideas of a story using a flowchart

Today, my group listened to a story, and then we worked together to decide what the main ideas were. We used a flowchart to record our ideas. The story was called The Elves and the Shoemaker. I think we did a good job because this is the first time we tried using a flowchart.

Lest we forget

On that day, my cousin Sani and me including Angeline were looking at my house
but then I found a big picture. It was outside and I wanted to grab it and so
I grabbed it then I found a nail and nailed it to the wall. When I hung it up,
I hung it on the wrong side!  I forgot that there was not enough space.
Angeline and I couldn't hold it but Sani said, “I will try my best”, so we
put it into the van and told mum what had happened. After, dad took us
to the picture shop to return our picture we found before. When we got inside,
we were looking at the pretty picture. My eyes went really big because
I found a picture I really wanted. I asked Dad and he looked at the price
of the photo and it was a lot of money!  Dad was not going to buy it because
it was too much money to use on one picture, so Dad took a picture on
his phone and I said about the photo, “ It was not big, it wasn't heavy,
it was the best picture!” . At the top, it says lest we forget.

Dad and our scooter

23/04/2020
My story: Picture 5
by Winfred

One lovely afternoon, there was a little boy playing at the park with his dad.
The boy's name was Latu and his dad's name was Siva. Latu really enjoys
playing in the park with other kids and it was a very beautiful day to go to the park.
They were swinging at the swing and sliding down the slide. Latu kept playing and
playing until he felt hungry, but his dad forgot to buy food or snacks when they went
to the park. “Dad, I'm hungry,” said Latu, “Oh I'm sorry Latu I forgot to bring some
food” Siva replied. “But we can walk to the shop and buy you ice cream,” said dad.
“Yes dad, I love ice cream,” said Latu. They start walking to the shop but Latu is so
tired from playing at the park. “Dad, I'm so tired and I'm too lazy to walk,” said Latu.
Dad noticed a scooter for hire on the side of the road. “Lets go hire the scooter” dad said.
“Yes,” Latu screamed. They hired the scooter and rode it to the shop and bought the ice
cream. Latu enjoys riding on the scooter. After they ate their ice cream they rode the
scooter back home.

One hot day, me and my dog told mum that we will go for a walk to the park. I asked my

then we went to the park before we ate our candy. We finished eatIng our candy

It was me after that we went on the slide then we went up the tunnels.
We all tried to play hide and seek and after that we were hungry so we

Our Surprise for Latu

21/04/2020
My Story: Picture #3
by Winfred

One morning, I woke up and I forgot that it was my brother Latu's birthday.
But then I remembered again, I asked my mum, “Mum can we buy a birthday
cake to surprise Latu on his birthday?” “Yes we can do that” said mum.
So that afternoon we planned a birthday party and we bought a very
beautiful cake without Latu knowing about it. After we set it up, I blindfold
Latu’s eyes in his room before I took him to our back yard where the party will held.
When we got there, I took off the blindfold and everyone screamed
“‘S-  U-  R-  P-  R-  I-  S---E”.”  Latu was so surprised and he was so
happy too, we had so much fun. “Thank you everyone” said Latu
“You are welcome and we love You” we said.
