Our book week

To-day we all dressed up as our favourite characters from our books we read. We tried our best to use our brain to create our costumes. We had to ask our family to help us with our costumes because we can't do it by ourselves.

Some of us were greedy cats and one of us was a robot because he read the book, 'Why do we eat?' We all enjoyed sharing about ourselves because they were fun and exciting. The big bad wolf wanted to eat grandma and little red riding hood. So many stories we shared about to-day. We hope that we will do it again in the near future.

Caught in action

Our best learning circle. We do meditations once every fortnight.  When we have this time to ourselves, I think of Mum at home and Dad at work. I sometimes feel that I miss them so much.

I always pray and ask God to look after them while I am away. I also think of my 'Mum & daughter time" during the school holidays.

This is a time where I get to speak to God silently in my brain. I always look forward to my meditation time with the soft sleepy music.

Catholic School Day with St Patrick & St Ignatius

One rainy, cloudy day, our whole school went to St Patrick School at Panmure. It was quite cold,  but we were more excited to see other students from the other two (2) schools.

We all went to church as Fr John, Fr Felise and Fr Andrew co-celebrated the mass for us. St Patrick and St Ignatius were waiting for us to arrive.

We all sang our hearts out as we really loved singing with the other schools. We were also excited as we were looking forward to meet new students.
Finally, mass ended and we all went to have lunch. Sadly, it was raining and we all had to return but we all enjoyed the trip down to our neighbouring catholic school.

Our Mother's Day Weekend

In the weekend, we celebrated Mother's Day. All our Dads and cousins, gave our Mums and Grandmothers some cards. In the cards, we all drew pictures and wrote a note for them. We also gave them a big party. Some of us made lots and lots of food, while some were making cakes, some were making muffins & pancakes, some of us helped to prepare the pigs and of course all of us helped to eat with Mum and Grandma.
We all felt so special because our Mums has done so much for us and we were trying to make her feel like an angel by making her smile and relax.

The Sunflower

Last Friday afternoon,  Meela was playing with her classmates for our DP after lunch. Everyone built their own designs using different things like blocks, papers, dinosaurs and different shapes.

Meela took time to think of something to design. While she was thinking, everyone else did their own thing and built their own adventures. She finally made up her mind that she will  make something super special.

She made a yellow sunflower with a white shell to protect it from the insects. The whole class were excited to see her beautiful creation.

Our mufti day

On this beautiful Thursday, it is our mufti day for lent.  We got to wear anything and we had to bring a gold coin.  The money is to pay for us wearing different clothes than our school uniform.  With this money, we can help other families who will need support.  We also learnt in class about almsgiving where we can help people who are in need.
Lend a hand, let's make a difference!!!

Happy Easter Room 4 Glen Innes School

This week we are learning about Easter. We have been learning about Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.

We also learnt that it is not about chocolates and easter eggs but about the life of Jesus and the sacrifices he made.

Our class enjoyed making an Easter card for Room 4 at Glen Innes School.
Meela is colouring her easter egg.

 Annabelle is colouring hers too.

Jaden is cutting off our pictures.

A Day to Remember

By Preston.

Last week on Tuesday, it was my 6th birthday but I slept at my Nana and Poppa's house. My cousin was there too. She lives far far away from our house. My cousin always lets me go on her phone. She also has a big television. She always wants me to sleep with her because I'm her best friend.

She has a boyfriend and I am always excited to be with her and her boyfriend.  The next morning, Mum and Dad came to take me home. They bought me a guitar for my birthday. I was always allowed to go to the movies when it is my birthday.

I had fun with my family on my special day. I got my favourite cake too, a chocolate cake.

Our Assembly

At Assembly, the whole school were there. Some of our parents were there too. We felt a little shy because we had to dance in front of the whole school.
At the end of it, we were all excited because we heard them clapping their hands. Room 3 did a great job hosting it. Christopher, Crystallani and Pauliasi received a certificate from Mr. Coakley.

This afternoon, we all went to the hall for our Duffy Role Model Assembly. We started with the sign of the cross in Tongan and our school prayer.

Our quest speaker was Michel Mulipola. He shared with us his comic books and his favourite wrestlers.

We were also excited to get 2 Duffy books to take home. We will read during the school holidays.

Our new home

Our new home
by Jaden

When I went to my new home, I was super excited. I ran inside to check it out. My room is upstairs. The kitchen is downstairs with another bedroom.

I looked around and I especially liked the sitting room because it is huge with super space for my toys and my family gatherings.

I am glad, I have a new home.

One sunny day, me and my family went to the park for a picnic. I had a donut and some juice.  We played with my sisters at the flying fox. Then we also played at the big swing with my Mum. She pushed me really high and I wanted to get off.

I had fun at the park with my family.

Teeth Brushing in Ruma Wha

ARE'NT WE LUCKY TO BRUSH OUR TEETH AT SCHOOL EVERY DAY?

Talofa and Greetings from Ruma Wha. We brush our teeth every day, when we finish our fruits after lunch. Our teacher gives us a little bit of toothpaste on our finger and we put in onto our toothbrush.

We keep our toothbrush safe and clean in a silver steel container. We are doing this, so we can keep our teeth clean and have less cavities. We are all happy to brush our teeth 3 times a day or more.

A Kitten for the King

Hi Room 4 at Glen Innes School

Good morning Room 4, we designed some pictures of the King yesterday with Mrs. Collins.
We have just read the story and we are excited to share with you our pictures. It is an interesting story to see a young king and getting a kitten with spots.
King Ethelred is acting like us when we are sick, most times we do not want to stay in bed.  Thank you for sharing this amazing story with us Room 4.

OUR SOUL FRIEND DAY

We started the day with a whole school mass. At the mass, we offered it for our friends who died in Christchurch last Friday. Fr Felise shared with us, that it is very important, we respect and love everyone for we were all created by God.
After mass, we had shared lunch with our soul friends. Room 5 were kind enough to host us and Room 1. We had lots of food to share with each other.
After lunch, everyone at the whole school had 2 minutes at 1.32pm to be silent to show our respect to our 50 brothers and sisters who have fallen in Christchurch. Every single one of us were so quiet. We pray that their souls will be with God.
We all prayed for our friends and families in Christchurch today and for our soul friend at school too.
KIA KAHA EVERYONE ESPECIALLY OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN CHRISTCHURCH.

Dan, the dragon

Dan is a skinny smart dragon. He looks funny because he's got yellow wings, pink body and he breathes out fire. He's got night vision scary eyes and purple dots to scare little children like me. Dan can fly up to the sky at night  and when it's sunny at day time, it cannot fly.

When he's hungry, he can eat any meat or fish around his area. He is friendly to people when he's not hungry.  When he eats lots of food, he grows taller but not fatter.

We hope that Dan was here to protect us and to save the people in Christchurch.

PAPER DOLLS FOR CHRISTCHURCH - KIA KAHA!!!

This is Room 4's learning for Christchurch. Yesterday, we learnt and shared how we feel that everyone in our class is a family.

We did some art with Julia's paper doll template to remind us of who we are in New Zealand.

We also learnt that when we stand together as a family, we will help ourself to learn, and help each other to grow happily.

We are made of different cultures but we are one as KIWIS. We will look after each other in class and at school.

When we are happy, we will help to rebuild ourselves as true christians and faithful New Zealanders.

Coming home- Our new song

In the hall, we got into a small circle so we can do some warm ups. Everyone thought of a dance move and we all did it together.  This dance was a little bit hard than the one we wrote about before.
We got up on the stage to showcase our dance. The boys did a great job but us girls rock the floor.  We had a really fun enjoyable time with Miss Shannon.

St Patrick's Day in Room 4

Greetings from Room 4,

To-day we discussed who is St Patrick and how he relates to us in our school. We understand that the Faith Sisters were from Ireland.

The Faith Sisters were the founders for our school, St Pius X Catholic School. We had a look at some of the pictures of  the Irish sisters and we all decided that we would like to do art using the shamrocks.

We made paper men representing us. We are making our own little paper men/women so it will remind us to follow the footsteps of all saints including St Patrick who converted all of Ireland to christianity.

If you would like more pictures, we have displayed them in class. Drop a comment so we can show them all.

St Patrick's Day

Yesterday, me and my class, made a St Patrick Day man. I was the first one to finish. I helped my friend, Isitolo to make his one too. It was fun and I felt excited about it. We made them out of a green shamrock, some papers and glue.
by Meela.

Dancing is fun

Good morning from Room 4.

In the hall, we were doing some new movements for our Dance class. They were the lights, the stretch, the apples, the clapping and driving.

We have enjoyed  the driving the most because it makes all our bodies move including our heads and our feet.

The name of the song is called ' Paint the town green'. It is an amazing song.

Puppet for Maths

This morning, we did Maths with Mrs. Coakley. She let us talk to each other using our new friends (puppets). We did counting forward from different numbers. We had fun because we got to say different numbers with our new friends.  Naomi had the first chance because she knew the first number.

We all had turns to say some numbers. It was really fun to see our new friends face when we said the right numbers.  At the end of it, the whole class had a turn to play with our puppets and to count too.

After that, Annabelle had the first turn and than Hope after that. We hope that our new friends, puppet will visit us again during this year.
