The Hare and the Tortoise Retold by Viane
Many years ago in a lovely meadow lived a show off Hare and a very slow Tortoise. Hare was a very mean rabbit and Tortoise was a very kind Tortoise. One day Hare made fun of him. He said "You are a very slow Tortoise."
Then Tortoise was very mad and red. Following this Tortoise said "Do you want a race?" Hare just laughed. He said "All right then, tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to come with my own crown." On the race day the people didn't think that Tortoise would win. They went to the start and Owl said, "Go!" And Hare ran as fast as his legs could move him. Tortoise just plodded on like a slow motion robot. Hare ran so very fast that when he looked back he couldn't see Tortoise. Hare said to himself "I am going for a nap. Hare went and sat down near a lovely tree. All of a sudden Hare fell asleep for a very long time until the sun went down. Tortoise plodded quietly on then he went past Hare. Tortoise crossed the finish line. Hare thought he had won but he saw Tortoise at the finish line waiting for him.
Hare said, "I'm sorry and I won't
do it again." Hare learnt his lesson.
Tortoise said "It's okay. It was just a race. They lived happily ever after.
The message is don't give up.

A Long Run
On a cloudy Tuesday the whole school had cross country. First of all we had to line up in our age groups. The five year old girls had to go first. When they were ready to run Mrs Pole said, "Get on your mark, get set, go!" The five year old girls ran as fast as they could. My little sister was racing too. She came second. My family was very proud of her. When it got to my turn I was very nervous. Mrs Pole said "Go!" And I ran very fast. Alan was coming first and and I was second. Then Alan slipped so I came first. I ran very fast when I saw William. Alan caught me up. After that Alan went past me and I came second. When Alan was at the finish line Marcus went past me after I ran to the finish line. The tricky part was running up the hill. When I ran up the hill I was tired, the same with Alan. I think cross country is good because it makes me fit.

Our First Badminton Lesson
On Tuesday afternoon Room 4 went to the school hall for our first lesson of badminton. First of all we had to take off our shoes then Room 4 had to have a warm up. Our instructor Robbie said, "It is a game called Stuck in the Mud." You had to choose someone to be the tagger. Olidah and Maea were the taggers. I was running as fast as I could. Maris-Stella got tagged then I double hi fived her.
We had to stop because the game was finished. After that we had to go to Robbie to get a badminton racquet and a shuttlecock. I was excited. To begin with Robbie told us how to balance the shuttlecock on teh racquet. We played another game called the Hamburger game. You have to put the shuttlecock on your badminton racquet. After that another person comes and puts his racquet on top of it. After that he had to tell us to restart. I felt nervous because it looked hard. Well it was a little tricky.

My collage Artwork
I enjoyed putting sequins on my rainbow fish and dyeing my background .
What I found tricky was cutting the shape of the shells and drawing the fish . It was hard!
I like the way I put tissue paper on my rainbow fish and I like the way Mrs Pole showed me how to put bubbles in my art. It looks like a real rainbow fish. It was shiny.
I used texture by glueing the bumpy fish onto the background.

Our Wonderful Virtues Assembly
Last Friday Room 4 had a Virtues assembly. I felt nervous when the whole school came. The first play was the Blind Man. Alan was the blind man and Malakai was Jesus. My play was the paralised man. We had to carry Maea because he was the paralised man and he had to take the tires off the roof. The audience was laughing. The honest disciple was very funny because Macky said he had a frank tongue but a wicked heart. We sang a song called "Just a Single Candle.' It's a lovely song. It was my favourite song. My favourite part was the honest disciple because Macky said the frank tongue but a wicked heart and when we carried Maea it was very cool and we told the whole school and our parents about Faith. My mum. said "I'm proud of you."

Swimming at Saint Pius X
At St Pius X School there is a swimming pool in the courts. Some people don't swim and some people do. Everyday Room 4 goes for a swim. Kevin and Gillian are our instructors. When it was our first time going to swimming I was very scared because I felt that the water was deep. Then when I jumped in the water, it wasn't so deep. The swimming pool is in the marque. The marque
is made out of strong plastic and can be portable. We get 5 minutes of free time and we learn new skills. It was fun and we had a swimming competition. I swam the furthest without a board. It was hard. I kicked my legs as fast as I could. Samuel came second. Samuel just swam half of the swimming pool.
I can do a front flip and a back flip. I can float like a starfish and I can do a hardstand in the water. I can open my eyes in the water. If you do it for too long your eyes might go red and they will hurt. I did it last time. Sometimes we swim with boards. I hit my head on the big pool stairs. I like the pool because it is very cool and amazing. It is cold but very warm sometimes.

Waitangi Day
On Waitangi Day I went to Mission Bay with Macky and his brothers. I went to Stanley's mother's restaurant. Me and Stanley ate fish and chips and we had milkshakes. After that Stanley and I went and swam in the fountain. We were floating on the water. Stanley and I had a race swimming around the fountain and Stanley won because I couldn't swim. The fountain water was cold and shallow. I like the water because it is fun.

Going to Mt Smart Stadium - Viane
Going to Mt Smart Stadium
On Tuesday morning Room 4 and Room 5 went to Mt Smart
Stadium. I felt nervous when I first saw Mt Smart Stadium. I was very happy. We
went with the helpers. First of all we went to football. It was cool because we
won all of our games. After that we went to the long jump. It was covered in
sand and I was laughing when I fell down. The shot put ball was heavy. I got a
goal and the others got jealous. I was the goal keeper. After that we went
running. I came second. My favourite part was when I was doing the long jump. I
was very hungry when we came back from Mt Smart. It was foggy when we came back
from Mt Smart. I was very tired. I liked the shot put because I had beaten
Kalaine. We won all of our games. I slipped on the track

The Big Pot of Porridge
On Monday morning we made porridge. First of all Pio got some water. He tipped the water into the pot. Next Room 4 tipped oatmeal into the pot. Then we took turns to stir. It was fun. When it was cooked we had to go to our desks and Mrs Pole called our names. I ate more than one bowl. I had 3! The porridge was ready when we saw he bubbling. It tasted yummy. I wanted some more. I made porridge with my mum. My favourite part was when Stanley got some more!

A Fun and Sad time in the holidays
In the holidays I stayed at my house because it was a funeral. After that my big sister went to her room and cried. And then she came with a picture of him. And my mum cried and she gives it to my uncle. After that we went out side and we were dancing. After that we were eating some of the food. After we’d eaten we went to the shop and we got some chips, and some lollies. And we came back from the shop and we gave the food out to every body. And they said thank you and I said thank you and then I passed it the next person.
